Tony G.: Stay away from Canadian Tire Auto Service at Main Street in North Vancouver, B.C.! Incompetent mechanics, a so called service manager that is even worse. They recommend all sorts of unnecessary extra work, and after agreeing to do the extra work they came up with damage that was done after they last worked on my vehicle. Finally after I told them I want my truck back with no more work to be done, the service manager pipes up stating that they do not feel comfortable continuing the job. This was all after I simply asked them to change from the brake pads and a power steering pump. USELESS!

Norm M.: Canadian Tire mechanics are paid flat rate which means, the more work they repair, the more the mechanic earns. Once the car is on the hoist, routine things such as a brake job may easily become a suspension job and the customer is charged for the labour of replacement of parts that may already be off the car. It's sort of similar to double dipping, yet they follow a prescribed labour rate so it seems they not overcharging. Yet even novice mechanics repair faster than the book rate. Mechanics often prosper by "finding" things wrong and sometimes it's not uncommon for good parts to be replaced long before they need replacing.

LorraineandChris S.: I just tried to buy some winter tires and rims from your Mapleview Rd Barrie store and had nothing but problems. Your "insta app" for the credit card (to take advantage of the no interest payments) took almost 2 hours. No one advised me that the approval I finally received was only good for 24 hours. As it took so long in the store to get the approval, I made plans to come back two days later and have the tires installed, but then the card was rejected as it had been more than the 24 hours (another 2 hours wasted). Then to be treated rudely by the service manager and told "there was nothing they could do". It seems the staff are not aware of store policies and immediate managers could definitely benefit from some customer service training. At least the store manager had the courage to call and apologize. Not good customer service! I cancelled the card and the tire order and will take my business to a more professional operator.

Gord G.: tried to explain this before, I worked at CTC # 126 for ten years on the shop floor, we had at times as many as 30 mechanics working, of those 30 five or six were top tier, the others not so much

Seriously? This mechanic/technician/drop-out needs to find a different sector to work in:

John N.: ah Canadian Tire, the place where y wife took her car and the guy there said she was giving him skin cancer due to her bad catalytic convertor

John D.: I agree have not had a good experience with car repairs in two different stores. But do purchase other products there. Won't take car to any of canadian tire stores.

John D.: I did that and it took over 9 months to get any refund... as for car repairs never again. I will not even recommend repairs being done for anybody. I think you need better mechanics as well as better customer relations in the Auto repair departments.

Dana C: CT wanted to charge me 450.00 to replace my rear shocks.. I laughed.. then asked how long it would take.. they said 3 hours. I laughed again and left.. Went somewhere where I got it down for 260 which includes alignment and it only took 1.5 hours.. Your such a scam company it makes me sick.

Trevor L.: The canadian tire in scarborough on Rylander has the worst customer service I have ever seen. Huge waste of time this morning they really need to work on their communication skills. I ave been a long time customer of the automotive department with my 2 cars and will be no more! Good job on losing another customer Canadian Tire. Do not ever go to the rylander location in scarborough for your car if you want to be treated properly!

Eric S.: I go to Canadian tire with my daughter to get stuff done on her car and a price is given she signs an estimate.Today she picks up her car (1 day late)and the bill is over $200 higher...no phone call or anything to advise. you sexist store, taking advantage of a young woman. I smell an escalation Monday.will be lodging a complaint with better business bureau and the Quebec consumer's protection. 4 winter tires (at $92.00/tire + 4 rims + installation of a car starter (that was bought the week before at your store) over 1300.00...btw the car is new. I wish you would remove the Canadian in your name. you slander the name

Spano S.C.: on a totally different note since i cant see a post link . i had winter tires put on my car and since i was there asked your store in oshawa to do an oil change they had the car overnight picked it up friday night sunday whent to visit my son on my return home on the highway the oil lamp came on .. what do you suggest i do go to the dealership and see what the guys did ? or take it back to them they didn t seem to know if mt car had more than a fuse box had they said so when i dropped the car off i would have not had any work on it done . so any suggestion lord knows they charged me a mint for an oil change

David N.: Terrible experience at the Silver Linden Canadian Tire store in Richmond Hill on Saturday. Brought in my vehicle at around 9:30 am to get the light bulb
replaced for my plates. I told them one of the screws was stripped on
the drivers side so they said it could be done but It will be
approximately 100 dollars. After the car stayed with them for 8 hours,
they report back saying that the socket is broken and they got the
passenger side working. I told them the passenger side was already
working ---I changed the light bulb myself. They were able to remove the
broken screw on the driver side but said they will have to order a new
socket replacement from the dealer. I drove home and removed the cover
myself and replaced the bulb on the driver side. Of course I turn on
my lights and both bulbs are lit. I called the store back asking for
the Service or Store Manager to file the complaint at around 6pm, but
nobody bothered picking up the page for service. I'm never shopping at
Canadian Tire again.

Martin B.: People beware of Canadian Tire in Mt Pearl....Terrible service
To directly quote the "service manager" at Canadian Tire in Mount Pearl this morning: "wasn't damaged in the shop" (despite not being aware the vehicle was with them the night before)...

"We gotta find the frigging file"....classy

"It was windy last night, Volkswagens are known for this"

"we got a big parking lot, we don't know if someone damaged in there"

Martin B.: I've called 20 mins on hold and emailed.

Raluca N.: Went to the Dufferin/Finch location just two days ago, for a simple oil change...engine started to smoke up on the highway afterwards and the next day I took it to my volvo dealership, who charged me 250 dolars for cleaning up the oil that apparently the canadian tire mechanic had spilled all over my engine, which leaked by the sparkplugs and everything else...he didn't even have the decency to clean up his mess. I was told that my engine could have caught fire...thanks canadian tire, guess my life is not valuable to you...who trained THIS guy?

Andrew M.: Canadian Tire continues being a disreputable company. I took in a dented winter rim for re-shaping and Mechanic tried to convince me that I needed new brake pads and rotors - even though they pads and rotors are only 2 months old!! Different garage confirmed that my brakes are "like new".Canadian tire needs to employ it's mechanics differently so they don't consistently attempt to rip of customers.

This is just exploitation:

Brian P.: My friend went to the one here and got windshield wipers and asked if they could put them on for her. The wipers cost her $40 total and they charged her almost $100 to put them on. Told her afterwards that it was a minimum 1 hour shop rate charge

A 3-letter word for "driving after CT works on your car":

Laurie P.: I guess "bus" as well!! I made the mistake of taking my car to Canadian tire for a winter tuneup. Ended up with a bill for $650.00. Now everything seems to be going. Never Ever Again!!!

i work in a canadian tire store, as parts person, and, if nothing else was done to her vehicule, if they just installed wipers... then, she overpaid, she should go back, and ask a manager for some explanation, and ask for a refund. Normally, to instal wipers, it takes about 5 minutes for both, if they had charged 5-10$ it would have been ok, but not 100$.
